Crispy Snackin’ Beans
I’ve got a new, portable whole food snack for you!
Crispy snackin’ beans are the new goldfish, I swear.
They’re crispy, lightly salted and offer a blank canvas to flavor anyway you like. These are a great snack for older babies and toddlers and the perfect size for pincer grasp practice. You can make them less crispy simply by baking for a shorter period of time, and can even mash if you’d like to serve to younger babies (6 months plus).
My kids are 4 and 5 and prefer them super crispy (which is how I like them too). Compared to other cracker type snacks, these cuties are loaded with fiber, protein, and even healthy fats from a good amount of olive oil.
You can use many types of beans. I have made these with cannellini beans, black beans, chickpeas, and even pinto beans. You can also switch up the spices however you’d like. Keep it simple with salt and pepper, try them out with dry ranch seasoning or even taco seasoning mix, or use whatever herb you have popping up in your garden.
