I'm totally hiding vegetables in pear + apple sauce on a regular basis now. I know I told you I never do that (I can be the worst sometimes). I sort of added the carrots at the last minute because I had carrot cake on the brain. The warm spices that go so well with pears and apples also taste great with carrots, right? Sure.
I accidentally screwed the shaker top off of the ginger while making the last batch of sauce and the result was legit spicy. Like jalapeno spicy. I had no idea what ginger was capable of. I probably poured 1/4 cup of ground ginger into that batch...like half the shaker. Not very kid friendly anymore but I ate it anyway because THAT'S JUST WHO I AM.
Put this in the slow cooker before you go to work in the morning or do whatever it is you do during the day and your house will smell like fall themed HEAVEN. Waaaaay better than a fall candle (why do all candles give me a headache?). You don't even have to eat it! You could just cook it to make your house smell amazing! But you should eat it. It's delicious and SO sweet without adding a single grain of sugar.
My grandma once typed up a sheet of her home remedies on a type writer and gave it to my mom to keep on hand. She taped it up in in the bathroom so whenever we were little and had an ailment, we'd go in and check out grandmas list. Her suggestion for upset stomach was peeled, grated apples. Ruthie was sick with a stomach bug recently and I thought back to that list. I'm not sure the science behind it, but I love the grated apple suggestion and used it with Ruthie and she bought it! After not eating much of anything for 24 hours, grated apples and pear sauce came through big time.
It's basically medicine that smells amazing. Put that in your crock pot and slow cook it.
